Leading Edge assisted Joys in the creation of this stunning set

Joy’s supplied an extravagant 15m widescreen, centered on the landscape side of the room, and constructed from floor to ceiling. This impressive screen was framed by a stunning custom designed and built set, representing sporting medals. A series of stunning 3D animated graphics were produced in Joy’s unique 3DLive system, specifically for the event. These featured stylish silhouettes of sportsmen and women, as well as flowing lines and relevant images of stadia and sports fields. Three main colours were chosen to create a different atmosphere for each section of the evening.

Projection was provided by two edge-blended DP 35HDs, which produce outstanding clarity and colour combined with a High Definition image. Spyder screen control managed the 18,000 lumen projectors, along with two Christie HD12Ks, which were used to project onto two 6m x 1.5m repeater screens at the back of the room. These permitted an excellent view of the dynamic on screen display from all perspectives.

Joy’s Tertrart staging was erected for the main stage, along with a secondary stage for the band. A third podium style stage was positioned to one side for photo opportunities for the award winners.

A three camera “image magnification” system was used to film the evening, consisting of two manned cameras on tripods and one manned roving camera. Live images were fed through Spyder to a window on each screen. A comprehensive lighting rig was provided, including a number of moving head lamps and awards gobos on the set.

Also dressing the reception area for guests with effective coloured uplighting and a projection screen displaying a sponsor video to add interest to the room. The entire area was reset with different furniture and a change of lighting during the main awards to transform it into an after dinner lounge. The 3 floor entrance foyer to the hotel was also dressed with stunning effect, using red lighting and 5 short-throw projectors displaying a looped presentation.
