During our 15 plus years in exhibition design and building on the experience of others in my team, we have developed some useful event advice for exhibitors which will save you money, time and a few grey hairs!!! You are welcome to print off our tips and try them out yourself or ask for our help.
Choose your event
Exhibition and event selection - consider exhibiting not only at shows which target your own industry but also those of your customers, you might find fewer of your competitors there.
Train your event staff - Selling at an exhibition is different from a sales call, make sure they understand the stand goals and their own role in achieving them including how to spot a real business opportunity and politely rejecting time wasters.
Set SMART exhibition targets
Set Specific and measurable goals - Want to generate 150 leads? Launch a new product? The more precise the goals, the better your chances of achieving them.
Focussing at the exhibition
At the show focus on your key targets - Chances are your key prospects are a subset of the total audience. Decide who your key targets are and focus on them.
Plan your exhibition stand
Plan the stand to meet the goals - Stand location, design and activities should reflect what you want to achieve.
Measure your event success
After the show, measure the results - Measure your success against those specific goals set. If you exceeded them, determine why, if you fell short work out what you could do better.
Event marketing
Tell people why they should visit you - 83% of the most successful companies at exhibitions were the ones who mailed their prospects and customers before the show.
Follow up your event leads - Every visitor should receive a timely follow-up. A simple thank-you, a phone call, information pack or a sales visit
Pre-event marketing
Make the most of pre-show PR and advertising - mail your own lists, or the pre-registrants, contact the magazines that are running show previews. Run ads in preview issues with a "see us on stand 5 flag"
Re-book your exhibition stand
Re book your stand for the next show - If you've met or exceeded your goals, now is the time to lock in to a prime position at the next event.
Don't forget sponsorship opportunities - sponsor a seminar, brand a hall entrance or put an insert in the carrier bags - stand out from the crowd.
Maintain your exhibition equipment
Look after your stand and equipment by asking us to dismantle and store your stand - ensuring your investment is well protected and can be re-used time and time again.
